I spent lat week listening to all this cosmic spinning circles and vague lines of confusion stuff for inspiration for a project. Anyway turns out this lovefingers tune is the best thing i've heard for a while. I think its probably the sound we'll be questing for once we've all evolved past nipples.

lovefingers-zoysia

And let us not forget our routes:

silver apples-lovefingers

If you're in leeds these guys are spinning all this good stuff:

one cosmic sunday

INCESTUOUS

as i'm sure you all know, a hell of a lot of the djs you love are the same two (awesome) guys... dave taylor and joshua harvey... aka. switch, solid groove, a.brucker, herve, speaker junk (alongside trevor loveys), count of monte cristal and voodoo chilli. dave taylor also runs counterfeet (alongside sinden) and dubsided. impressive huh. i figured it was about to honour these guys.... so pay attention, this is a bit track heavy!

Herve - Cheap Thrills

Herve - La La Land

Count of Monte Cristal - Ghetto Bitches (Sinden Remix)

Speaker Junk -Close Your Eyes

Voodoo Chilli - Turn It Up (Jack It)

Solid Groove - This is Sick

Solid Groove and Sinden - Gotta Get Up

now go to beatport or juno or wherever else it is you buy your music from and check out everything else!

Shinichi Osawa

The guy on the right is Shinichi Osawa (aka Mondo Grosso), a Japanese producer/DJ that I’ve been pretty obsessed with recently. He’s done some really nasty remixes of Boys Noize, Digitalism and the Chemical Brothers, as well as these two beauts - Soulwax’s ‘Miserable Girl’ and Kap10kurt’s ‘Dangerseekers’. I know I’ve already posted a remix of the latter (see post AC Slater) but Osawa makes its so massive, and its just so good and so different that I couldn’t resist…

Soulwax – Miserable Girl (Shinichi Osawa Extra Hard Edit "Exclusive Edit for Kitsuné Udon")

Kapt10kurt – Dangerseekers (Shinichi Osawa remix)

And seeing as it’s nearly December, why not pop on a jumper, neck some mulled wine and snuggle down to Tittsworth’s remix of Paul McCartney having ‘a wonderful Christmas time'? I'd wager Macca's doing the same...

Tittsworth – Titts’mas

Santogold

Yo yo yo. Speaking of Santogold. She's playing at Hoxton Bar&Grill on the 6th December. For those who don't know her, she's Switch's favourite girl, who isn't a million miles away from M.I.A....... but that's a troublesome comparison. Listen to her and you'll see why she's similar, but you would never accuse Santogold of ripping M.I.A. off. Anyway, here are some tracks to give you a flavour.

Santogold - Creator

Santogold - You'll Find A Way (Switch and Sinden Remix)

Alan Braxe

If you wanted a musical Alan Braxe smörgåsbord for Christmas, you’ve come to the right place. Not only have I posted some of the more delightful of his tunes, you can also catch him at Turnmills in London this Saturday night, along with Crookers, James Lavelle and Justin Robertson. Ticket details are here.

If you don’t know who Braxe is, you need to wise up, and swiftly get down. He’s probably most famous for his work as Stardust with Thomas Bangalter (of Daft Punk) although give his album The Upper Cuts a listen and you’ll see that he’s quite capable by his lil’ French self.  Since then, often with the help of Fred Falke, he has remixed everyone worth remixing, my favourites of which are below; a really lovely, synth-driven version of 'D.A.N.C.E', a brilliantly poppy 'Bossy,' and "At Night,' taken from The Upper Cuts, and easily worthy of it's dance-floor classic original:

Justice – D.A.N.C.E (Alan Braxe remix)

Kelis – Bossy (Alan Braxe & Fred Falke)

How cool is the BBC?

I like to think that in the future there’ll be no need for charts or pop idol or war because everyone will have realized that all you need is Black Dice, in fact in 50 years time when the polar bears are dead and we’re all colonizing Venus, Black Dice will be heading up our society like Bill and Ted did in Excellent Adventure. Station. Load Blown came out a few weeks ago, I got to the record shop 15 minutes before it opened that Monday and was so excited that I had to spend 20 pence at the pay toilet. Any way, my point is that not only does the BBC haveAttenborough and 6Music, the BBC also has a Black Dice interview and live session, ok the session is actually a little dry (usualy live they have amazing visuals and all sorts), but its the thought that counts. Heres the first tune off load blown, enjoy.

Black Dice - Kokomo

LA Riots.

pic:thecobrasnake

Some artists or producers will blow you away with a sound so fresh or radical or crazy. These songs sometimes work forever, but mostly annoy you as quickly as they perk your interest. LA Riots do not produce that kind of track. I wouldn't describe what they do as anything revolutionary. But what they do do, is produce really great and solid tracks, that I keep going back to. They're often growers or sleepers. The D.V.N.O. track particularly, which I had for ages before I realised that I had to start putting it in mixes and sets. But I'm sure you guys aren't as foolish as me and won't sleep on these...

Chromeo - Bonafied Lovin' (LA Riots Remix) ...high quality version

LA Riots - Kill Bill

Kylie - Boombox Clip (LA Riots Remix) ...yes only a clip, but at over 3 minutes plenty long enough to mix with, or just plain enjoy

Justice - D.V.N.O. (LA Riots Bootleg)

BILLION DOLLAR DJ'S

BAD TASTE

so i hit up ibiza during the summer of this year, a place where the house has a tendancy to be a bit more funky and a little less fidget (of course it can be avoided and i did get to see SWITCH play at MANUMISSION, probably one of the best dj sets i've ever seen). but before you scoff, this bad taste music has actually appealed to some of the big hitters out there... and of course they've given it an edge

BLAMMA! BLAMMA!

Blamma! Blamma! are an electronic duo from London and they've been around for a while now, their first ever track 'carry me home' is now almost 2 years old (although, strangely, it has only very recently become available!) and they've been firm favourites in the blogosphere over the last year... basically they are INSANELY good. download everything you can find then plant yourself on the edge of your seat to wait for their promised release on itunes early next year.... for now here's a few of the tracks they've done including their new remix of The Teenagers' "Starlett Johansson"

Blamma! Blamma! - Carry Me Home

Maximo Park - Our Velocity (Blamma! Blamma! Terminal Velocity Remix)

Headland - Dogging Sisters (Blamma! Blamma! Mix)

Headland - Love Hate (Blamma! Blamma! Morgasm Mix)

The Teenagers - Starlett Johansson (Blamma! Blamma! Scared of Spiders Mix)

and if you agreed with the last post and did want more AC Slater, then here you go... this guy is sick and i thought these tracks were definitely worth a post

AC Slater - Bassline Time

AC Slater - Vertigo

go check out his myspace too where you can download his 'fit birds and top blokes' mix and hear even more of his stuff...

AC Slater?

If you said the name AC Slater to the average man on the street, 9 times out of 10 he’d assume you were talking about Albert Clifford ‘A.C.’ Slater, everyone’s favourite jock from TV’s Saved By The Bell. That goes without saying. Now it would appear an impostor is on the scene, and he’s only gone and released a great remix of ‘Shine Shine’ from Boys Noize’s recent album Oi Oi Oi. He’s kept the Daft Punk-esque synths and vocals, but scrapped the gentle bassline for a really driving beat that ‘AC’ would be proud of. More please.

Boys Noize - Shine Shine (AC Slater Remix)

Next is a remix of Kap10kurt’s ‘Dangerseekers’, by Rolf Honey (who, if you like your facts, is a member of French electro kidz Yuksek). After a build up worthy of a warehouse rave Rolf goes to town with the kick-in. If this gets your toes a-tappin’, check out Surkin’s ‘Radio Fireworks,’ it’s similarly old-school.

Kap10kurt – Dangerseekers (Rolf Honey Remix)

Finally, I know it’s not a new track, and Justice have been remixed far more than is necessary, but please, if you feel the need to party just slap this on and do what it says.

Justice – The Party (feat. Uffie) (LA Riots Remix)

Space In The Place, London

What with this being my first contribution and all, I wasn't sure where to start. Then i remembered that Midnight Juggernauts' new album is unbelievable, and Friendly Fires are one of the most fun, yet polished new live acts that i've seen in a long time. Factoring in the rise and rise of Daft Punk, and the growing popularity of the space rock sound, I think you'll agree that uploading the epic 'Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)' by 'dem Spice Girls was the most logical move.

Having gathered your emotions, why not give these two crackers a try? Both are taken from Dystopia, the new album by Australia's Midnight Juggernauts, the funk-bass mayhem of 'Shadows' in particular giving Alan Braxe and Fred Falke a run for their money:

Midnight Juggernauts - Shadows

Midnight Juggernauts - Nine Lives

As for the Friendly Fires, check out these two tracks from the Cross The Line EP, especially 'On Board', a tune performed live with two drummers and a whole lotta' ass:

Friendly Fires - On Board

Friendly Fires - Strobe

Guilty Pleasures

We all have something we like which perhaps we don't mention. Certainly not amongst our cooler friends. We hide our I-Pods from those who like Vincent Gallo movies, Junya Watanabe, Stephen Fry and always think 'the new album wasn't as good as their first'. Well screw that. I love the Scissor Sisters. Pop should be camp. It should be fun. It should be falsetto. So on that very theme, here are some of my favourite Scissor Sisters tracks, given some credibility by big hitter remixes.

Scissor Sisters - Kiss You Off (Mr. Oizo Remix)

Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing (Teenage Bad Girl Remix)

Scissor Sisters - She's My Man (Goose Remix)

Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb (Tiga Remix)

KID SISTER

She's already worked with an amazing selection of artists and got in Kanye West to feature on her 'pro nails' track which was released on Fools Gold, the label also known for getting out work by Kavinski and my favourites of the moment JOKERS OF THE SCENE. not bad huh?

Kid Sister - Damn Girl (Royal Rumble Hall of Fame Remix)

Kid Sister - Control

Chromeo - Tenderoni (Sinden Remix Feat. Kid Sister)

Kid Sister - Pro Nails (Feat. Kanye West)
