Who's the Bros.?

pic:johnlondei

I've been waiting for these two remixes for ages. Guilty pleasures, but remixed so well that you'll even feel cool listening to them.

The Kissy track, a lovely rework of Wham!, first surfaced, somewhat illicitly, in an old Casper C Beetroot Field podcast, and finally got the release it deserved. Still sounds as fresh as when I first heard it a year ago. It's off his new charity e.p. he did through Urban Outfitters.

And the Jaimie Fanatic Bros. one is truly great. How is he not bigger?

I love how 80s bands end their names with punctuation marks.

I've posted them at c.120kbps, as you can get them for realzzzz over at Beatport.

This should be your Primary1 concern

pic:thecobrasnake

Primary 1 are getting pure love at the minute... and I can see why. Their new single is out now. And comes with these lovely remixes. The shoes one is cosy music part II... and is lovely. Whereas the Yuksek one is a banger, but one of his most interesting, layered and impressive ones yet.

So all round good times? Yes. See Primary 1 at that modular party up on Old Street, LDN soon (details on the side bar), or touring with Metronomy (catch them in Leeds at pigs especially.

Please Surkin I Have Some More (Sir)?

More Surkin! Ow!! Listen to this lot, they’ll make you fall in love with monsieur plinky plonky all over again. The remix of ‘Hummer’ is so much better than the original, and it stinks of the early nineties dance vibe, which pleases me. You know it! Oh and ‘White Knights Two’ is a track off his soon to be released EP Next of Kin (another track from it is included in Justice’s mix here, and it’s so so good...) And if you want to feel like a fifteen year old scally get the Teki Latex tune, c’est hypercool!

Foals – Hummer (Surkin Remix)

Surkin – White Knights Two

Teki Latex – Les Matins De Paris (Surkin Remix)

Fagget Me Not...

It's good to hear something from the Balkans getting some exposure in the club scene. To be fair, they know how to part-ay, as anyone who has been to Exit festival can tell you. Fagget Fairys from Sarajevo, rapping in Bosnian, is something a little different to all the Calvin Harris, Hard-Fi remixing nonsense that gets branded as 'electro' these days. AC Slater agrees with me anyway...

Fagget Fairys - Uzela

Fagget Fairys - Samo Ti (AC Slater Remix)

Cosy Music For Nice People

pic:dirtydirtydancing

When he's not busy making bangers, Alexander Ridha makes the odd really beautiful remix... think his Feist work. This new one he did for Apparat is on a similar vein. Enjoy

Apparat - Arcadia (Boys Noize Remix)

Et Justice Pour...?

Have a listen to this, the controversial new mix by Justice for FabricLive which was REJECTED! It's a load of obscure, synthy/quirky French 80's pop, mixed in with a few (and I stress few) current favourites. Not sure about the second half so much, it gets a little bland, but the first 12 tracks are some pretty original shiiiit, not least the intro.

Ok it isn't very dancey, but I think Fabric should've taken the risk of accepting something that's a little different personally, if nothing else but for the amount of heated debate it's provoking in the blog world.  Everyone is going to listen to something with Justice's name on it at the moment, why can't that something be a little different from the average?  It sure is a political hot potato, why not leave us your thoughts below...

Justice - Rejected Fabric Mix

02 Rondo Veneziano – La Serenissima

Twock Twock Twock

do you like raybans? sure you do. do you like MHI? sure you do. well here's a pretty little mix of the two, We Sold Out has got the exclusive on the first pieces of MHI's spring collection, this line looks set to be a fun one...

and, seen as this is primarily a music blog, i guess i should post up some music (it's been a while)...

when Calvertron and Will Bailey get together they form house duo Twocker. the pair are massively appreciated by the Vacation Records crew (who i was raving about back here) and if Twocker good enough for them then they are certainly good enough for the rest of us...

It Oizo Really Good Year...

I really love Mr. Oizo. He's so much more than 'Flat Beat' and it's about time it was recognised. He's got a beard to rival Tellier. He's influenced everyone who's anyone in 2007's electro world and gets little credit for it. He rips apart 'da beat' and then, when you least expect it, puts it back together again in a brilliant way. Listen to 'Half A Scissor' and you'll know what i mean. I hope that the keener/less sociable amongst you will notice that 'Trina700' is the track used for the Ed Banger 'Intra' track. It's great cos it's so simple, it's all about the beat, the beard. The real reason I posted this is because i've just heard the best remix yet of 'Patrick122', which makes more use of the massively underrated disco loop of the original, and less of the saxophone part. I know the saxophone bit is great too but everyone always traps on about it... Sacré bleu!

Mr Oizo - Patrick 122 (Calling In Sick remix)

Mr Oizo - Trina700 (Xtended Edit)

Mr Oizo - Half A Scissor

Happy new year everyone,
