Old Skool Party Vibes

Photobucket
pic:bexe

Just wanted to throw these two tracks at you, see how they go down. The Grandmaster Flash remix of Midnight Juggernauts is one of those kick-and-snare dominated tracks that can break up a bass heavy set, and give it a bit of old skool flavour while its there. DJ Weekend chops up an old Eric B and Rakim classic, nothing too intense, all about the beat and vox, which is more than welcome in this club.

Midnight Juggernauts - Into The Galaxy (Grandmaster Flash Remix)

Eric B. & Rakim - I Know You Got Soul (DJ Weekend's Chop The Mic Remix)

P.S. I have to nod my Lil' Bro Peep cap at James John, Jazz, Hock and all our readers for what has to be Dance Club's best month yet. Party on guys.

Sunrise

pic:sodapop77

It's 3 in the morning. The beats have been pounding for hours. And then. Like the sun as it bursts over the horizon. This comes on. Just imagine it.

BLAM!!

One of the first tracks I ever bought on vinyl was Tiga's version of I Wear My Sunglasses At Night. Loving Brodinski and Yuksek's remix.

Rude!

pic:cweeks

Let's get some Russ Chimes on up in here, his name's been a bit of a blogger's hot potato this year. Catch! Gorgeous Cryptonite style number in 'She's Got The Heat,' and a really fun remix of the dance floor, never-gets-old legend 'Push The Feeling On.'

Will you do my thing?

Mom & Dad recently impressed us here at dance club with a delightful little Mase remix. And now they've hit us up with their latest track, which samples the late James Brown to playful effect. We enjoyed it, so will you.

L'Homage

pic:ejan

There's something particularly sweet about remixes of these classic tracks. The remixer gives the song a respect that ensures the original brilliance is maintained, but with a new edge. We saw it with Soulwax's remix of You Can't Always Get What You Want, and Sebastian continues with this classic from The Who.

The Who - Baba O'Riley (SebastiAn Remix)

Down With The Keedz?

Photobucket
pic:jacquivangrootel

This is causing a bit of a stir, some say Keedz are Justice in disguise, others that they're a very good rip-off. All I know is this is a pretty cool track, if a little over-religious (the vocals sound like something from Sister Act II, which is not necessarily a bad thing.) Send us your thoughts/conspiracy theories!

Finding it hard to write, Fabric was so good last night. Hope some of you got down there. Anyway, some more tracks from what are quickly becoming some of my favourite acts this year, Grum and Cryptonites. Alfa do a neat job on the Crypto track, and Grum tears it up as always. Gonna try out some streaming as a tester. I need some sleep.

A while back we were talking about Billion Dollar DJs, their remixes are really intense but still perfect for a hungry dancefloor. Time for another installment. I love this remix of M.I.A., all this talk of her hanging up the mic had better be paper talk. And please, keep on remixing 'Club Action,' even with its horribly gratuitous use of the 'n' word, its got too much ass to ever get boring.

pic:hutch-wolfy

..but I just love music that comes from the planet Slap Bass. Here's a collection of five very cool tracks that have caught my ear recently, I may as well just get it over with in one post. Expect gratuitous synth and zero gravity.

Futurecop! - N.A.S.A

Sidechains - Waiting So Long

Sidechains - Dr. Funk

Sidechains - Dance While You Can

Jupiter - Starlight

And while you're at it, check out Jupiter's myspace, they're a really cool unsigned act from Paris and need your support!

The Clash have been a vital band to every generation of the past few decades. In these slamming house days, it can sometimes be hard to hear them on a night out. Not anymore, thanks to Biancardi. Good times.

katy perrys girl loving track that attracted dr luke and benny blancos attention back here has now had some love from californian dj kue. i'm also gonna post up dj kue's ratm remix, it's from back in may but it's still amazing and for some reason it never featured on this blog, quelle horreure. (sp?)

Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl (DJ Kue's I Kissed A Squirrel Remix)

Rage Against The Machine - Bulls On Parade (DJ Kue Remix)

finalement.. some new t-shirts from the guys over at modular. there's new designs for the label and some of the artists including soulwax and the presets. there's also been some restocking of a few classic designs. such as the record label mouth and the coloured modular letters. pick them up over at the modular webstore or "modshop"....

La La BANG

pic:chuckhead

What I enjoyed most about the Machines Don't Care album, is that it sounds like in the track Beat Bang, Herve, with the help of Trevor Loveys, finally made a banger out of his track La La Land from waaaaay back (or perhaps I'm making up the similarity). You can buy the full album over here, including Beat Bang.

JERK YOUR BODY

pic:dalaiharma

thunderheist are a canadian boy girl duo that have been punctuating the blog world for a while now. they have a new ep about to drop later this month and their title track 'jerk it' is pretty hot. to make things even more appealing firm favourites jokers of the scene have offered up their fix of the track which will appear on the ep alongside the workings of nacho lovers, jfk (mstrkrft) and others... win.

Thunderheist - Jerk It

Thunderheist - Jerk It (Jokers Of The Scene Remix)

and, speaking of jokers of the scene, dust la rock (the artist for fools gold, check his work above... as if you didn't already know) has released some new shirt designs for the label... including one graphic for the aforementioned jots. pick them up now over at the fools gold webstore. also look out for some of dust la rocks forthcoming collabs. one that will combine the work of him, a-trak, cody hudson and grotesk and another with sixpack france. dance club will keep you posted, of course.
